Dr. J’s Blues Review and the HPU Department of Communication presents JUNE MILLINGTON at Crossroads on April 28. JUNE MILLINGTON will host an evening of rock to support her non-profit The Institute for the Musical Arts. June will talk story earlier in the dat the HPU Aloha Tower Marketplace, Multipurpose room 1 at noon.
June and her sister Jean were pioneering women in rock, founding the all-female FANNY in 1970. FANNY was the first women’s Rock band founded by women thaty made it. FANNY toured worldwide, opening for Slade, Jethro Tull and Humble Pie.
David Bowie was a devotee, calling FANNY “one of the finest… rock bands of their time. They were extraordinary… they’re as important as anybody else who’s ever been, ever; it just wasn’t their time. Revivify Fanny. And I will feel that my work is done.”
June will be be joined by some of Honolulu’s most dynamic women in rock from Chocho, Rotten Blossom, Bone Canyon, Laulani Teale, Yan Davis, Sparrow, SynVox, and more…
